Letters From Appreciative Parents

"Thank you, Serenity House, for giving us back our son – a young man who has tremendous potential and a strong sense of morality and personal ethics. He is now prepared to go out in the world and make a meaningful contribution to his community. You have given him the gift of self-confidence that he can succeed. You have given us, as parents, the gift of understanding and hope. And you have given our family the gift of renewed life. He never would have made this journey without the exceptional support and guidance provided him by the people at Serenity House.”

            -- David L.

"Enclosed with this letter is an announcement for you of our son's graduation. You were right at the top of his list (and mine) of folks to share this great news with. I am also enclosing copies of some awards he received recently. He was named the school's most outstanding student in both Physics and Journalism. That's an interesting combination. He also won first prize in the state for school newspaper layout design. He was the design editor of the school paper this year, and really found a wonderful use for his computer skills and his artistic talents. I am enclosing some copies of his school paper.  You and Metropolitan Serenity House have a major role in all of this, and we wanted to share this news with you.”

             -- Jay's Father Stan

"Our family remains grateful to Serenity House for helping us begin new lives. We are sending some information about our son that he may be too modest to share himself. He celebrated 5 years clean and sober on January 5, 2002. He is currently a senior in college majoring in History and Economics. He qualified for the Dean's List in the Fall of 2001 and Spring 2002. He was recognized at the University Research Symposium for Outstanding Research Paper in History for 2002. He will be graduating in December 2003. THANK YOU, Serenity House.”

              -- Margaret and Dan B.

"The work you do, at Serenity House, to guide young men towards sobriety and down the path of recovery is a wonderful gift to society. The time our son spent at Serenity House has proven to be invaluable. October 25 marks 4 years of sobriety for him! Our family will always be grateful to Serenity House!”

             -- Another Appreciative Mother

"Thank you so much for all the love and care that you've given to my son. You were an angel sent from heaven at his most desperate time! As I tried and tried to help him during his last ‘fall from the wagon' I landed in the hospital and could do no more. I did however stay up at night and pray and pray that God would pick up where I left off. I really thought he may have been gone forever during those few months. The downslide was quick and hard. Thank you again for your graciousness to him. He has the utmost respect and love for you. You will always be a ‘mentor' for him. May God bless you, your family, and Serenity House!”

             -- Another Appreciative Mother

"Not only has our son become a person of integrity in the past few months, but our family has begun to heal as well. Through your education sessions and family therapy, we have developed a level of honesty and understanding as a family which never existed before. Thank You Serenity House.”

         -- An Appreciative Father
